Israel adopts new means to disperse demonstrators

Israeli border guards have put into practice a new method to scatter demonstrators, local daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported Sunday on its web site.

The dispersing apparatus, named “skunk,” is operated by two manual systems and one water-spraying machine, which spurts foul-smelling liquid, said the report, adding that the border guard tested its effectivity in the last demonstration in the West Bank village of Naalin.

Algerian President arrives in Tehran

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a three-day visit, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Bouteflika was received at the airport by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and some other officials.

Armed attack on vehicle carrying Turkish journalists in South Ossetia

An armed attack was waged on a vehicle carrying a group of Turkish journalists in the self-claimed independent region of South Ossetia, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Sunday.

Turkish officials were quoted as saying that journalist Recep Ozturk was wounded, while others were not injured in the attack.
